IOS is probably one of the very few software that make headlines globally with each update.  With its fantastic new features and superb user experience, people with iPhone, iPad or iPod want to upgrade their device software as soon as it comes.  However, with every update, iOS users have to experience a series of problems again and again.  One of the most common issues is “Wi-Fi”

IPads, iPhones, and all the devices that run on iOS need internet connectivity for most of their features to work properly.  With Wi-Fi not working on iPhone, your iPhone is no better than a brick.  Nevertheless, there are some steps you can take to get your Wi-Fi working on your iPhone.  Let’s go through the various steps one by one.

1. Of course the first thing that your need to check is that your router is on. Also ensure that you are within the optimum range for your device to connect with your router.

2. On your device, go to setting > Wi-Fi and make sure that Wi-Fi is on. A blue checkmark beside the name of your network means you’re connected.

3. Check all the cables and connections to make sure that all the devices are connected properly.

4. Now, restart your iPhone, router and modem. This simple method solves connectivity issues in most cases.  To force restart your iPhone, hold down your Sleep/Wake button and Home button simultaneously at least for 30 seconds or till you see the Apple logo and screen gets blank.  To restart your router, simple unplug it and then plug it back again.  Now check if the problem persists or not.

5. If the Wi-Fi is still not working, the first method that you can apply is “Forget this network.” Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Find your Wi-Fi network. Tap on the name of your network and then tap on “Forget This Network”.  A dialog box will appear.  It will ask you to confirm your action.  Tap on ‘Forget’.  Now, you’ll have to log into your network again by entering your Wi-Fi password.  This simple process may be all that you need to resolve your network issues on your new or upgraded device.  Especially, if your device keeps dropping your Wi-Fi connection, this process can be a timesaver for you.

6. If your device still can’t connect to Wi-Fi, you need to reset your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.  But a word of caution: This resets your current cellular settings for networks and Wi-Fi password.  It also erases your VPN settings.  After resetting your network settings, you need to set your network settings again.  Hopefully, now you will be able to connect your iPhone with your Wi-Fi and your problem of “Wi-Fi not working on iPhone” will be resolved.
